Private rented sector requirements (England)
- Electrical installations must be inspected and tested by a qualified person at least every 5 years.
- Existing tenants must receive a copy of the report within 28 days of the inspection.
- New tenants must receive a copy before they move in.
- The local authority can request a copy, which must be supplied within 7 days.
- Remedial or further investigation work must be completed within 28 days, or sooner if the report says so.
